Step aside, Tiger. It’s been a long time coming, but 2NE1 is here now–to steal the year of 2010, that is.
After debuting with their first mini-album, the fierce foursome dispersed momentarily to pursue solo activities that were wildly successful in the music industry. On the 9th, 2NE1 surprised us all when they released their first single of the year titled Try To Copy Me out of the blue.
President of YG Entertainment Yang Hyun Suk stated, “Initially, there wasn’t going to be a music video for this song, but because of the positive reaction from the public, we are taking it into consideration. The official decision will be made by YG Entertainment’s music video producers and directors.”
Only three days after the song’s release, the hip-hop track has escalated at an alarming rate to the top, even surpassing senior artists like SNSD and 2AM on some music charts. SNSD, in particular, has maintained a consistent success rate ever since the “Gee Syndrome” so it was reasonably expected that they would dominate the early half of the year again. However, both the media and the public are now suspecting the power of nine may waver with 2NE1’s official comeback.
