After being known as the leader of SS501, and then as an actor, since debuting some six years ago, Kim Hyun Joong is ready to embark on a new path as a solo singer.

Having released his solo mini-album “Break Down” earlier this week, Hyun Joong becomes the fourth SS501 member to do so with Kim Kyu Jong the only one not to have released a solo album.

Rania talks about their “Masquerade” performance

On June 10th, Rania made their return with their follow-up track, “Masquerade,” on KBS’s “Music Bank.” Following their performance, the girls sat down for an interview with TV Daily and shared their thoughts on their return.

The girls began, “It’s a stage we still feel nervous about, just like our debut. We’re a performance-geared group so we all want to show something amazing. Member T-ae injured her ankle while rehearsing for ‘Masquerade’ so she has to compress it with bandages to perform on stage. It’s really upsetting.”

T-ae revealed, “The choreography for ‘Dr. Feel Good‘ was difficult, but ‘Masquerade’ is even more difficult. I’m receiving treatment at the hospital so I will get better. It’s an injury, but I’m working harder to show that we don’t lack anything as a performance group.”

Rania continued, “We want to show something different from our debut, both in our image and our outfits. There was a sexually suggestive controversy, but we hope that people will take an interest in the concept that we hope to show.”

When asked to describe their style for “Masquerade”, the girls replied, “It’s a lot more detailed than ‘Dr. Feel Good.’ Performing with a mic is definitely harder than before. Through ‘Masquerade’, we hope to show that we have a powerful charm and energize the public as well.”

'I used to be called a s**t at school' says Lady Gaga... as she parades down a runway in a see-through dress

By DAILY MAIL REPORTER

Who's laughing now?: Gaga on the runway in Cologne for Germany's Top Model today

Her outfits have become more risque with every smash hit single, but Lady Gaga has complained that she was branded a 'sl*t' at school because of the way she dressed.

In a recent interview, the singer who firmly believes that less is more when it comes to couture, said she dreaded attending classes in New York because of the taunts.

However it hasn't stopped her revealing as much as she can at every opportunity since, as the sheer gown she chose for her appearance on Germany's Top Model today proves.

Sheer talent: It was almost a conservative choice for the shock singer, besides the see-through material

'I used to be called a sl*t. I didn’t even want to go to school sometimes,' the pop mega-star told the Daily Record.

And while this high-neck, long gown is positively Victorian compared to Gaga's usual choice of outfit, the sheer fabric reveals her body clearly - knickers, bra and all.

Fan club: Gaga was handed a hand made placard saying I Love You Gaga by a member of the audience

On her feet she wore a pair of her regulation Noritaka Tatehana shoes were clearly visible.

The towering, yet heel-less footwear has become a staple part of Gaga's overall look - this particular pair being covered with gold studs.

The post-modern singer teamed the barely-there ensemble with a teal wig.

Later Gaga was even more scantily-clad during her performance of songs Born This Way and Edge of Glory on the reality show, opting for fishnet tights, knickers and an asymmetric cape.

Feel the love: The superstar singer receive a very warm welcome when she appeared on the German version of Top Model

To begin with she sat at a piano which had stacks of money placed all over its lid.
Making her way on to the catwalk, Gaga stepped under three different guillotines, each of which had a different word illuminated above it - the first had SEX, the second MONEY and the third VANITY.

At the second guillotine, her dance troupe played with another huge stack of money, while at the third Gaga caused a moment of high drama when she placed herself under the blade of the execution device.

Money spinner: Gaga sits at the piano as she performs Edge Of Glory - the lid of the instrument cover with bundles of cash

The lights then went out before she jumped up holding a false head with the same teal wig she was wearing herself, shouting 'beauty is a lie'.

Of course, Gaga's whole act undoubtedly had some kind of poignant message behind it.

Gaga then jumped up with a prosthetic head - in matching teal wig - held aloft, before snarling towards the judges, including Heidi Klum: 'I would kill for fashion.'

The show at the Lanxess Arena in Cologne was being streamed live on the internet, so Gaga's pronouncement reached her fans worldwide.

Yin and yang: The two faces of Gaga during the show, her black stage attire and white runway gown

She is deadly serious about fashion, besides Bowie, Queen and Madonna, the New Yorker counts Donatella Versace as one of her primary inspirations.

Her own team, the Haus of Gaga have also had a sensational effect upon fashion, with outlandish styles inspired by Gaga's look even filtering down to the high street.

Also performing during the evening showcase was R&B singer Keri Hilson, while stunning blonde model Jana was crowned the winner of the catwalk-focused program.

The dark side: Gaga opted for a sleek black ensemble for her typically entertaining routine

Cutting edge: Gaga holds a fake head in her left hand after laying down under the guillotine behind her

But as usual, it was Gaga who stole the show, and in the same interview with the Daily Record, the singer - who split from boyfriend Luc Carl earlier this year - also hinted that she might be ready to steal someone's heart, again.

Talking about her heavily made up appearance, she explained: 'I do get laughed at quite a bit by all my friends because they say I go to sleep a lot with my make-up on. But I say that I have to be ready for the man of my dreams!'

The superstar singer also recently spoke about the inspiration behind her new album Born This Way.

Speaking to the NME, she said: 'I was thinking about Madonna, she was a big inspiration and I was thinking about Prince when I was writing.

'There's the industrial sound of German house music too. Whitney Houston's on there too, especially on Marry The Night.'

Heads up: The singer holds a fake head aloft as she crowns her performance on the German show

Keeping it brief: The Saturdays play live in tiny shorts as Nicola Roberts gets over nerves to make solo onstage debut

By JODY THOMPSON

Fierce: The Saturdays took to the stage in Newcastle last night all wearing tiny shorts - apart from a more bashful Rochelle Wiseman (far right)

They've never been afraid of wearing skimpy outfits onstage - but The Saturdays outdid themselves on stage in Newcastle last night.

The girl group were sporting the tiniest of shorts as they played a short set at a gig thrown by the city's radio station, Metro Radio Live.

But it seemed that Rochelle Wiseman was not having one of her more confident days and wore pale denim skintight jeans instead.

Work it: (L-R) Mollie King, Una Healy, Vanessa White, Frankie Sandford and Rochelle were playing a short set at Metro Radio Live at Newcastle Arena - a kind of urban indoor one-day pop festival

However, one person who had most definitely overcome her nerves was Nicola Roberts, who made her live solo debut last night, just days after saying she was dreading going on without her Girls Aloud bandmates.

Talking to MTV earlier this week, she'd revealed: 'I'm nervous and I'm dreading the night before. I know I'm going to be like losing half a stone in weight overnight, so I'm going to have to get myself into the zone.'

She added: 'There does feel like there is a little bit of extra pressure, because it is just me and it feels a little bit like, is that enough, is it enough to just look at that?'

Solo debut: Nicola Roberts got over her nerves to play her first ever live gig without Girls Aloud at the show

Dainty doll: The star threw some shapes as she performed and totally won the screaming crowd over

However, she seemed to quash her butterflies and impressed the crowd, singing debut solo single Beat Of My Drum in a tiny red and pink dress accessorised with a kooky headscarf and multicoloured strappy heels.

Other acts playing the bash included dubstep queen Katy B, Chipmunk, Sophie Ellis Bextor, The Feeling, The Wanted, rapper Example, hot new band The Overtones and Amy Winehouse's goddaughter Dionne Bromfield.

Meanwhile, Nicola has been explaining why she chose to take such a different direction musically with her new single.

Strutting her stuff: Mollie was wearing titchy high-waisted orange shorts and a low cut see-through blue vest top that showed off her black bra

Working with hot underground music producer Diplo, she explained: 'I tried to drum in to him that I wanted these quirky dollops of sound like M.I.A. (who he's worked with before) or Major Lazer (his Jamaican dancehall project).

'Don’t try and make this record come back like a commercial, just-for-radio song with 500 dance synths all over it ‘cause it’s not where I’m trying to go.'

Scouse beauty Nicola also says she feels like she's unleashed her singing voice properly for the first time too.

On song: Frankie belts out one of The Saturday's singles wearing tight striped shorts and a blue top with a distressed denim top half, as Una sports ripped denim and a low cut purple top showing off her red bra

She said: 'I was sick to death of singing the quiet, whispery parts. I was like, no, f*** this, I’m going to sing!'

Talking to MTV, Nicola said it was good that it was so different to Girls Aloud: 'It was important my first single was different to anything else around.

'I love that it’s a song everyone can sing and dance along to.

Earning her stripes: Rochelle has teamed her jeans with a leather jacket and a midriff-exposing tiger print top

Thighs the limit: Una strikes a pose at the Newcastle Arena

Nicola Roberts will be releasing her debut album ‘Cinderella’s Eyes’ in October.
Meanwhile, the Daily Mirror is reporting that Girls Aloud are heading back into the studio in January.

But apparently, the girls are ditching their former producers, hitmakers Xenomania.

A source said: 'At the moment the Girls are really excited about their new beginning, although they are scratching their heads over who will create signature hits for them.

'They’re excited they’re going to be making a fresh start together on this next adventure of their lives.

'In six months time it’ll be back to work as normal – they are itching to get back in the studio.'

An audience with...Sophie Ellis Bextor was also on the bill at the bash

The band are reportedly set to reform to celebrate their 10th anniversary next year at a special festival for the London 2012 Olympics at the O2 Arena.

Nicola though is onstage again for a hometown gig at Liverpool's Radio City Live tonight, before playing T4 On The Beach on 10 July.

Beat Of My Drum is then released on 18 July.

Meanwhile, MTV Music show On Set With Nicola Roberts is on at 2pm tomorrow.
And the next Metro Radio Live is on 7 July and features JLS and Olly Murs.

What showmance? Alex Reid and Chantelle Houghton attempt to silence doubters with loved-up display at DVD launch

By SARAH BULL

Loved-up: Alex Reid and Chantelle Houghton attempted to dispel showmance rumours about their relationship with a loved-up display at The Fighter DVD launch

They've been accused of putting on a 'showmance' to increase their public profiles.

But last night Alex Reid and Chantelle Houghton attempted to silence their critics with a very loved-up public display at the DVD launch of Mark Wahlberg's movie The Fighter.

Chantelle, 27, and 35-year-old Alex kissed and cuddled for photographers as they posed at the event, held at London's York Hall.

We're so in love: The pair even colour co-ordinated their outfits for the occasion

The pair even colour-coordinated their outfits, with Chantelle opting for a black vest top and white jacket, while Alex went for a black and white pinstriped suit.

Chantelle and Alex have also been trying to validate their relationship with some flirting on Twitter.

After Chantelle's PETA photocall outside the Houses of Parliament earlier this week, which saw the former Big Brother star dress up as a sexy tiger, Alex tweeted her: 'Well done for today babe. Wanna get with me in a cage? X'
Chantelle later replied: 'Aww thanks baby! erm...ok! haha. mwah X'

Close: The couple held hands as they left the party at London's York Hall

The couple were recently seen enjoying a luxury spa break at the five-star spa The Grove in Hertfordshire where they apparently 'got to know each other better.'

Moving on: Chantelle and Alex's apparent romance comes a few months after they split from their respective exes Rav Wilding and Katie Price

Back from the dead: Astonishing pictures show how Japan is recovering just three months after tsunami

By EMILY ALLEN

The pleasure boat ''Hamayuri'' washed up on the rooftop of an inn by tsunami and a building have so far been removed in the town of Otsuchi, Iwate Prefecture, on April 6, top, and on June 3, bottom.

Japan's economy shrank 0.9 percent in the first quarter but recovery is expected between July and September

Just three months ago Japan was plunged into chaos after a cataclysmic earthquake sent a merciless tsunami crashing through towns and cities up and down the east coast.

The unforgiving tide of water obliterated tens of thousands of buildings, devouring almost anything in its path. Thousands of people died and hundreds of bodies have never been recovered.

The heart-breaking images of families desperately searching for loved ones amid the rubble of their homes sent shockwaves around the world.

Now, three months on, these images show the Japanese people remain undaunted by the havoc nature has wreaked on their homeland as step by step they rebuild their nation.

A Shinto shrine gate and surroundings in the town of Otsuchi, Iwate Prefecture three days after the March 11 earthquake and tsunami and the same spot on June 3

But despite their progress, stark reminders of the work left to do means the resilience of this Asian country is still being tested.

Headway in the clean-up has been made in the town of Otsuchi in Iwate Prefecture where the pleasure boat ''Hamayuri'', which was remarkably washed up on the rooftop of an inn, has been removed, along with a building shattered by the the wall of water.

Further down is an image of a Shinto shrine gate in the town three days after the March 11 disaster.

The same spot on June 3 which shows thousands of tonnes of rubbish, which had lay smouldering in an almost post-apolcalyptic landscape, has been cleared, roads re-laid and power lines restored.

Civilisation appears to have returned in Natori in Miyagi prefecture too. The first image shows a towering wall of ocean crashing through trees devastating homes and businesses lining the coast, tearing down power lines and drowning anything in its path.

A parking lot of a shopping centre filled with houses and debris in Otsuchi town, Iwate prefecture two days after the earthquake hit and the same area picture on June 3

Astonishingly just one house survived the wave and a lone digger is pictured having cleared away the once thriving community reduced to rubble. Hundreds of cars parked in the foreground remain abandoned and appear to be the only reminder of the devastation.

Similarly, the striking image of a ship atop tonnes of rubble in the Kesennuma in Miyagi prefecture on March 20 was projected around the world and became a symbol of the disaster.

The photograph shows grey smoke filled skies above a path of destruction, but three months on, much of the debris has been cleared, power lines restored and hope is on the horizon.

A car park in a shopping centre, filled with houses and debris in Otsuchi town in Iwate prefecture is also back on its feet and signs of life are returning. Parking spaces are clearly visible where piles of wood, bricks, and vehicles lay strewn just a few weeks ago.

The final image shows local people walking through debris on a street in Kesennuma, Miyagi Prefecture to get water 48 hours after the disaster. The same image on June 3 shows the massive tank which lay in the road has gone and a damaged house on the left side of the street has been cleared and restored.

The 9.0 magnitude earthquake caused the worst crisis in Japan since the Second World War and left almost 28,000 people dead or missing.

The clean-up bill is expected to top £184 billion and radiation fears from the stricken Fukushima nuclear plant are still growing after four of the reactors were damaged leading to radiation leaks.

This week, an earless bunny was born near the reactor in north east Japan raising concerns the radiation could have long-term side effects.

Following the blast and initial leaks Japanese officials told people living near the plant to stay indoors and turn of air conditioning and also to not drink tap water.

High levels of radiation are known to cause cancer and other health problems but scientists are not yet clear if the defect in the rabbit is linked to the blast.

Japan's economy slipped into recession following the devastation and new data shows it shrank 0.9 percent in the first quarter of this financial year but experts say a recovery later this year as industry kicks into action.

Industrial output rose one per cent in April from a record decline in March.

Manufacturers are making progress in restoring supply chains and ecnomists are predicting Gross Domestic Project to begin expanding again between July and September.

Watch footage from AKB48’s 3rd Senbatsu General Election!

On June 9th, ‘Ariyoshi AKB Republic’ aired a special live episode showing footage from the ‘3rd AKB48 Senbatsu General Election’.

Hosts Ariyoshi Hiroyuki and AKB48’s Kojima Haruna were joined by comedians Tsuchida Teruyuki, Yamasato Ryota, and announcer Tokumitsu Kazuo, who hosted both this year and last year’s results. The crew reviewed the top 21 members, as the results cut down the list one-by-one.

We’ve got videos below from the special, and since there was a lot of drama surrounding whether it would be Oshima Yuko or Maeda Atsuko who would get 1st place this year, we’ve also included translations of their acceptance speeches and messages to each other.

Oshima Yuko’s acceptance speech:

“These vote numbers, where one person gets many votes… can it really be called an election? Shouldn’t an election be one vote per person? People around AKB say a lot of things, but for us, votes means everyone’s love. We are loved, and so are able to hold an event like this on such a large stage, in such a large budokan. Last year, I was #1 and sang a song called ‘Heavy Rotation‘ in the center position. For me, it’s a very dear song. In the next single, I’ll be #2 but I won’t feel resigned, and I will dance and sing with all my power. Thank you for all the love.”

Maeda Atsuko’s acceptance speech:
“Everyone, thank you so much. I was really able to feel encouragement and support from many people. Of course, I know there are people who don’t like me. There’s just one thing I’d like to ask: even if you dislike me, please don’t disklike AKB! This year, I want to deliver smiles to everyone with AKB48. Please take care of me.”

Maeda to Oshima:
“To Yuko…this entire year… not just this year, I have thought, that it was Yuko, and not me, that always, always pulled everyone forward. I would be very happy if you could continue to support AKB48 together with me. Thank you!”

Oshima to Maeda:
“Acchan is the face of AKB. As long as Acchan is smiling and looking forward, everything will be fine. Let’s continue looking forward together.”

Listeners were amazed by the live, for the girls performed a cappella without an MR to support them. Each member not only proved that they could sing strongly, but that they could stay in key and harmonize well as a group.

The members are seen dressed in casual sweaters and without any makeup, but their fluttery dance motions and bright smiles emphasize that they don’t need fancy stage outfits to exude charm.

'A breath of fresh air': Leggy Nicole is a hit at U.S. X Factor auditions as Cheryl becomes 'the invisible woman'

By SARA NATHAN

At your service: Nicole Scherzinger poses with excitable fans as she arrives at the second day of auditions in New Jersey for the U.S. X Factor today

She is still in hiding after her dreams of cracking America on the X Factor USA were shattered.

And yesterday, Cheryl Cole actually became the invisible woman as Simon Cowell introduced her replacement on the TV talent show – singer Nicole Scherzinger.

To ear-splitting applause from the crowd, the X Factor judges walked out to greet the audience at the auditions in New Jersey.

'Invisible woman': Nicole showed off her longs legs in a metallic grey dress with a studded belt, seen right the woman she replaced, Cheryl Cole on her first day of auditions in Los Angeles last month

Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul, L.A. Reid and Nicole Scherzinger beamed as they made their introductions.

And it was a case of ‘Cheryl, who’s Cheryl?’ as Miss Scherzinger, 32, was introduced to the crowd by Cowell as ‘our own answer to Cruella de Vil.’

It was as if Mrs Cole had never even been on set as the slender brunette then triumphantly punched the air, making it clear that she deserved the job, screaming: ‘What’s up New Jersey? How are you? Y’all feeling good today?’

It's Saula: Simon Cowell has given Nicole high praise, saying she is like a breath of fresh air, but it was Paula Abdul who he was lauding with attention as the pair shared a smooch as they arrived today

Pretty in pink: Paula stood out in a bright short dress, teamed with Christian Louboutin heels

Clad in a figure-hugging green jumpsuit and gold stilettos, the singer added: ‘I don’t know if you all know this, but today is my first day on the job for the X Factor – I’m here for you. I’m at your service, New Jersey.’

‘So please, please, lets have some fun and let’s show X Factor some love!’

The former Pussycat Doll singer was promoted from show co-host to a judge after Mrs Cole, 27, was removed from the panel after filming four auditions.

Unbreakable bond: Simon and Paula were very touchy-feely as they greeted the waiting media and fans outside the arena

Say cheese: Former Pussycat Doll Nicole poses with fellow judge L.A. Reid, who looked dapper in a suit with brown suede shoes

And speaking after the first round of auditions at the Prudential Centre in Newark, New Jersey, music mogul Cowell told the Daily Mail: ‘Didn’t’ Nicole do well? She was terrific.

‘She’s a great addition to the panel, she’ll be great. She’s just what we needed – she’s a breath of fresh air.’

The entire judging panel looked terribly cosy as Miss Abdul, 48 cuddled, up to Cowell , 51,and Miss Scherzinger bantered with record executive Reid.

Lively: Nicole was loving all the attention she was getting as she posed for photos and spoke to the Press

And when asked if they knew who Mrs Cole was, audience members professed ignorance and one said: ‘We don’t know her in America.’

An onlooker said: ‘It was as if Cheryl had never been there at all, everyone looked happy and relaxed. It was like she had been rubbed out of the show.’

Mrs Cole is yet to make a public appearance after flying home to England from the auditions in Chicago two weeks ago.

The star was removed from the U.S. judging panel after being told by TV executives that she had lost her ‘sparkle.’

Meet my new BFF: Nicole posted a picture with fellow U.S. X Factor judge Paula on her Twitter page

The move then sparked a 10-day standoff beween her and Cowell that ended in her snubbing a £2.5 million offer to return to the U.K. X Factor – and finally an 11th hour offer to try again as a judge on the U.S. show.

She turned down the offer to return to America on Monday, leaving Miss Scherzinger - who was a guest judge at the U.K. X Factor auditions last year - to fill her high heels.

A show source said: ‘Nicole is feisty, she’s loud, she gets the crowd going – and she’s ambitious.

‘In short, she’s exactly what the X Factor needs. She was great on the first day and managed to spar with Cowell and the rest of the judges.’

Speaking earlier this week, Cowell told the Mail that it had been a ‘rough few weeks.’

Having a blast: Crowds assemble outside the Prudential Center in New Jersey

What a line-up: These are the first auditions to be filmed with Scherzinger as a judge

Coming soon: X Factor starts airing from September in the U.S. on the Fox network

Hot competition: A neon-clad Paula Abdul took on former Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger in a battle of puffball frocks as the X Factor auditions kicked off in New Jersey yesterday
